Free Lock Wall not far from the Oswego Canal

We hadn't decided until late but have decided to turn north up the Oswego Canal and head toward Canada and the Trent Severn Canal.  We left Ilion and crossed Onieda Lake.  Stopped and had lunch at a Tavern right on the river in Brewerton and then continued on to another free dock at lock 23 just past Brewerton.  It was another very quiet place for the night.  There were a lot of fishermen on the docks but they all left at dark.

We pondered going down to Watkins Glen, but the state park dock we thought about was not sure we could fit into a slip, and it would have been another three hours on down the lake to Watkins Glen.

We decided to turn right ar the Oswego Canal and head north.

We made it to the town of Oswego about 2:30pm.  We had trouble with the generator battery the day before and I did some troubleshooting and decided it was indeed the battery, so at Oswego, I found the Advanced Auto Parts store, rode my bike about three miles, and bought a battery.  Luckily, the manager agreed (I think they deliver local anyway) to have one of the staff haul the battery back to the boat.  It would have been a really good trick to haul that sucker on my folding bike!

Installed the new battery and yippee!  It works!

Tomorrow morning the last lock on the north end of the Oswego canal opens at 8 and we plan to be there when it does so we can get across Lake Ontario while it is still smooth.  The forecast looks good, keep your fingers crossed!  It was probably really nice today, and Monday is supposed to good again.  It should take about 5 hours to get to the north shore where we will have to clear customs into Canada.

We do NOT expect to have cell coverage due to the international fees, so if you don't hear from us for a few weeks, don't be alarmed.  We may only send txt messages and or email when we get to a wifi spot.

Jennifer at the office!

Saying goodbye to John, Camille and Charlie on Meander - Our Budy Boat since Waterford!  We hated to leave them, our tastes in cruising seem to be very similar.

On the free Lock wall between lock 7 and 8 in Oswego.  Monday we head to Canada!
