We went into the Portsmouth marina. This marina was the host of the Olymipic sailing events in 1976. It was a bit closer and an easy to get in and out of. We docked at the fuel dock and Jennifer went to the pay phone to call into Canadian customs. After a few questions, we were all set. We topped off the fuel tanks and fresh water and pulled away. We continued on about 12 miles toward the west and anchored in Kerr Bay.
Tuesday we will go about 45 miles to another anchorage. From there we will find a marina in Trenton for Wednesday evening. We need to figure out how we might get a data plan for the iPads. It is going to be tough without access to the internet. We spend a LOT more nights at free lock walls and anchoring out than we do in marinas, and we often find the wifi signal at many marinas are not strong enough of fast enough to be useful.
Here are some pictures from Oswego, the trip across Lake Ontario and the anchorage...
Power plant or something behind Jennifer is about 7 miles behind us as we left Oswego.
We passed Duck Island and were swarmed by May Flies! They looked like Mosquitos but according to the guy on the fuel dock in Kingston they are May flies. The picture does not do them justice, the was a cloud of them following us! The liked the windows as the sun hit them. I got the hose hooked up when we got to the anchorage and washed most of them away. Once it cooled down. They didn't like us as much.
Shot of the chart plotter as we left Portsmouth, where we cleared Canadian customs and topped the tanks.
Our first night in Canada spent in Kerr Bay
